Scaletron Industries has introduced a new volumetric feeder. The new Model VMF-90A™ Volumetric Screw Feeder is designed for automated additive dosing in water and chemical treatment processes. The new feeder retains the functionality and user friendly features of the popular VMF-28 feeder, but has been re-engineered for cost-savings and versatility.
The Maracaibo City water plant in Venezuela, South America was building a new water treatment facility to meet increased demand for drinking water. The new plant would utilize sodium hypochlorite (chlorine) as the primary disinfectant. Due to the need for increased capacity, the plant was being designed to use chlorine stored in larger ton containers that offer greater capacity, but are extremely heavy and difficult to handle.

The Cambridge, Ohio Water Treatment Plant wanted to upgrade its aging screw feed system for the dispensing of powdered activated carbon into the municipal water system. The plant used the carbon to control algae blooms, oil and other industrial wastes in the water supply.
Scaletron Industries has introduced a new volumetric feeder. The new VMF-28 Feeder with Carbon Package (Model VMF-28/CP) is a precision “Loss in Weight” measurement system designed specifically to provide accuracy in adding activated carbon in water treatment operations. The new unit features an integrated scale for accurate feeding plus a bag loading box that simplifies the addition of carbon to the system, and also enhances employee safety by containing carbon dust.
The Alexandria Water General Authority in Alexandria, Egypt wanted to upgrade and rehabilitate seven (7) water treatment plants serving the city of Alexandria and nearby districts. Weighing accuracy was a major concern as the current system relied on crane hung balances to weigh ton chlorine containers resulting in inaccurate dosing of chlorine and varying disinfection levels throughout the the water supply.
